What is RAD?

Ask The Experts

Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD)

The Rental Assistance Demonstration program was created to help PHA’s preserve and improve public housing properties. By allowing PHA’s to leverage public and private debt and equity, they’re able to reinvest in the public housing stock and make needed renovations.

Gives HUD’s “legacy” programs, which includes Rent Supplement, Rental Assistance Payment, and Section 8 Moderate Rehabilitation, the option to enter into long-term contracts that will allow for the financing of needed improvements.

Residents will maintain the rights they possessed in the public housing program, in addition to the protections under RAD. Prior to, and during conversion, residents maintain their claim to the property, and will be provided relocation protection if they must temporarily leave the premise due to construction.

Daily Planet Health & Services ( Homelessness & Shelter )

“Huge thanks to the D3G for bringing smiles to so many faces at our Child Advocacy Centers. The art canvases your employees made are now displayed in the main children’s playroom in our Henrico CAC and makes the space feel welcoming and full of love. We really appreciate the generosity and time that D3G provided for these families."

Greater Richmond SCAN ( Stop Child Abuse Now )

“I’m really glad that D3G provides volunteer opportunities. I’m often busy and have trouble finding meaningful ways to contribute to the community. A couple Saturdays spent picking up trash along the river or clearing old grave sites in historic Evergreen Cemetery has been fun and uplifting. You quickly see that every bit of help makes a difference."

Michael Binns ( Engineering Project Manager )

“Even though I’m a newer employee, I’ve grown to care very much about D3G and preserving the culture. Working at a company that allows me to step away from my computer and put energy into things I care about does so much for my mental and spiritual health. I love to connect with people and it’s great that D3G provides an environment for me to do so.”

Sutton Perry ( Environmental Project Manager )

“Working with Enrichmond to restore the distressed Historic Evergreen Cemetery was an incredibly unique and rewarding experience. In dedicating just a few hours of our time, we helped to celebrate the lives and legacies of generations of Richmond residents and their families."

Ben Plunkett ( RFP Specialist )

"My experience with the Community Engagement Committee has been an all-around positive one. I have been able to connect with various community organizations and their members to organize and partake in volunteer events. Volunteerism is a passion of mine, and I’m grateful that D3G is just as passionate about giving back and allowing me to take on such an active role. I am excited for the future of the committee, including the addition of new employees and more opportunities to show our gratitude and share our time!"
